[Veterinary Drug Name]
Generic name: Tiamulin Fumarate Soluble Powder
Trade name:
Product name: Tiamulin Fumarate Soluble Powder
Chinese Pinyin: Yanhusuosuan Taimiaojunsu Kerongxingfen
[Main Ingredient] Tiamulin fumarate
[Description] This product is white or off-white powder.
[Pharmacological Effect] Pharmacodynamics: Tiamulin belongs to the pleuromutilin antibiotics and has bactericidal effect on sensitive bacteria at high concentrations. It can inhibit bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the ribosomal 50S subunit. Tiamulin has good antibacterial activity against Mycoplasma and Treponema hyodysenteriae, and also has good antibacterial activity against most Gram-positive bacteria including Staphylococcus and Streptococcus (except Group D Streptococci). It has a certain effect on Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, and has weak antibacterial activity against most Gram-negative bacteria.
This product, when compatible with aureomycin at a ratio of 1:4, can be used to treat swine bacterial enteritis, bacterial pneumonia, swine treponemal dysentery, and has a significant curative effect on pneumonia caused by mixed infection of mycoplasma pneumonia, Bordetella bronchiseptica and Pasteurella multocida. Pharmacokinetics This product is well absorbed when taken orally. After a single dose, the bioavailability is about 85%, and the peak plasma concentration is reached within 2 to 4 hours. Drugs that enter the body are widely distributed, with the highest concentration in lung tissues. Tiamulin is extensively metabolized in vivo to generate more than 20 metabolites, some of which have antibacterial activity. Tiamulin metabolites are mainly excreted in feces via bile, and about 30% of them are excreted in urine.
[Drug Interactions]
(1) This product, when used in conjunction with polyether antibiotics such as monensin, salinomycin, and methyl salinomycin, can affect the metabolism of the above polyether antibiotics, causing slow growth, movement disorders, paralysis and even death of chickens.
(2) This product, when used with other antibiotics (such as macrolide antibiotics and lincomycin) that can bind to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes may result in reduced drug efficacy due to competition for the same site of action.
[Function and Use] Truncated pleuromutilin antibiotics. It is mainly used for the prevention and treatment of chronic respiratory tract disease in chickens, mycoplasma pneumonia in pigs and actinobacillus pleuropneumonia in pigs; it can also be used for swine dysentery and porcine proliferative enteritis caused by Treponema.
[Usage and Dosage] It is used based on this product. Mixed drink: In 1L of water, 0.1~0.13g for pigs for 5 consecutive days; and 0.28~0.56g for chicken for 3 consecutive days.
[Adverse Reactions] Pigs have occasionally developed skin erythema when used at recommended doses. Excessive dose may cause transient salivation, vomiting and central nervous system depression in pigs.
[Precautions]
(1) This product is prohibited to use with polyether antibiotics such as monensin, salinomycin, and methyl salinomycin.
(2) Users should avoid contact of the drug with eyes and skin.
[Drug withdrawal period] 7 days for pigs and 5 days for chicken.
[Strength] 45%
